POST STUDY WORKPERMIT OPPORTUNITIES
The post-study work scheme in Denmark is primarily granted through the Job Seeking Residence Permit or an Establishment Card. The permit allows non-EU/EEA graduates of a state-approved Danish higher education program to stay in Denmark to search for a job. Upon receiving an offer, they can transition to a regular work permit scheme.
Duration: The permit is typically granted for up to 3 years for graduates of a professional bachelor’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program, though shorter periods may apply under certain conditions. The 3-year period is often granted automatically with the study permit if the passport validity allows.
Flexibility: It allows the graduate to take up employment in any position without needing a separate work permit during the job-seeking period. Once employed, the graduate can switch to the Establishment Card or a standard work scheme, which offers full working rights in Denmark.
Eligibility: You must have completed a state-approved Danish professional bachelor’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree. You must apply within one year of completing your education and be able to financially support yourself during the first year of the permit.
